Louisiana Cajun

Louisiana Cajun

seasoning Cajun is the corrupted word of the Acadians, the French-speaking part of the population of the American state of Louisiana. The French immigrants formerly expelled from Canada (Acadia) settled in Louisiana and came into contact with the native population (Indians) and with the Creoles. This is how the Cajun culture originated with its own language, music and cuisine. Cajun mixes are put together in many different ways, but on average the mixes are full of contrasts from sweet to salty and from soft to spicy. Cajun seasoning can be used with fish, meat and chicken dishes, poultry and vegetables.

Preparation

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  • Put it in a sealable jar and store it in a dark moisture-free place
  • If you use fresh ingredients, grind and mix them well in a mortar before using them so that the flavors are released properly

Enjoy your dinner

To make a more special version, celery, basil, tarragon, cumin seeds and ground bay leaf can also be added (1/2 tsp each). Delicious with grill and BBQ dishes, marinate your chicken or pork salad or steak with it.
