Taco seasoning

Real taco seasoning is a spicy yet aromatic spice mix commonly used in South American cooking. Due to the different spices and the combination of both chili powder and cayenne powder, it gives an extra taste sensation to your marinades and sauces.

Preparation

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well
  • Put it in a sealable jar and store it in a dark moisture-free place, this way it will keep for a year If you use fresh herbs, make just enough to use immediately in a dish
  • Do not chop the fresh herbs in a blender, but finely chop or grind them in a mortar to release all the flavors

Enjoy your dinner

Allow the taco spice mix to absorb well into your dish by making the marinades a day in advance. Or if you use it immediately, also rub the meat well in advance so that all the flavors can penetrate the meat well. Do you mix it through the minced meat? Do this preferably when the minced meat is already loosely fried. If you do this too early, you'll have already lost some of your spices before they end up in a taco. Make sure you have some crème fraîche so that everyone can put out the fire now and then.
